Registration for the 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad started online
The registration process of the 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad (BDRO) 2021 has started following the unimaginable success of the Bangladesh team including winning gold medals in the last three editions of the International Robot Olympiad. Considering the current situation of Covid-19, the 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad will be held online. Any Bangladeshi student aged 7-18 can participate in this Olympiad. For this participants have to register by clicking the official website of the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad. Registration will go on from 16 August to 2 September. After that, various competitions of the 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2021 will be held on 16-26 September.
The organizers said that the national phase of the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad will be held in 5 categories this year. The categories are - Robot in Movie, Creative Category, Robot Gathering, Robotic Quiz and Robotics Quick Quiz.
Robot Gathering and Robotic Quiz Single Competition and Creative Category, Robot in Movie and Robotics Quick Quiz Team Competition. Of these, only the quiz competitions will be held for the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad section and the other three competitions will be held in South Korea in accordance with the rules of the international phase to form a team for the 23rd International Robot Olympiad. Each competition will be divided into two groups - Junior and Challenge. Competitors born between 2003 and 2008 will be in the Challenge Group and those born between 2009 and 2014 will be allowed to compete in the Junior Group. A contestant can take part in as many contests as s/he wants.
The organizers also said that the main theme of this year's Bangladesh Robot Olympiad is "Social Robot". Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2019 is organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Government of Bangladesh, Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, Dhaka University and Bangladesh Open Source Network. The implementation partner is Bangladesh Computer Council. Bangladesh Flying Labs, Masslab, Computer Services Limited, EMK Center, Amber IT and SSLCommerce are associated with the 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2021. Considering the overall situation of Covid-19, the national level competition of the 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2021 will be organized online this year, said the President of the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad Committee, Prof. Dr. Lafifa Jamal.
The Bangladesh team won a gold medal, two highly commanded medals and a technical medal in the 20th International Robot Olympiad held in Manila, the Philippines in 2018. The Bangladesh team won a gold medal, two silver and one bronze medal in the 21st International Robot Olympiad held in Thailand in 2019.
The team Bangladesh won a total of 10 medals in the 22nd International Robot Olympiad held in South Korea in 2020 and won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 5 bronze medals and 6 technical medals. Despite many limitations, this achievement of the Bangladesh team has brought us huge pride.
